Your choice, explained
We use essential cookies for security and remembering your cookie choice. We currently use no optional analytics or advertising cookies.
Accept and Reject save your optional-cookie choice for six months on this browser. Neither changes essential cookies, and accepting does not authorise future tracking. We will explain any new optional use and ask again before enabling it.
1. Cookie settings
You can change your choice here at any time. Your latest choice applies to this browser, including when it is shared with another user. Essential cookies remain active with either choice.

The choice cookie records the choice, the notice version and when you made it. It is not a marketing profile and does not store your name or email address. We ask again when it expires or if a new purpose requires a fresh choice. Continuing to browse without choosing does not give consent.
2. Essential cookies
Cookies are small values stored by your browser and sent back to this website. The application uses the following cookies for this site's host and root path.
__Host-jawa_food_session
Rails' encrypted session cookie supports request-forgery protection, temporary messages and access to your private draft in the optional checkout preview. It is a browser-session cookie, without a fixed expiry. A browser's session-restore feature may keep session cookies after it closes. It is not a customer login.
_jawa_food_cookie_preference
Remembers whether you accepted or rejected optional cookies, together with the notice version and decision time. This signed cookie protects the choice against tampering. It expires six months after your choice.
__Host-jawa_food_customer_session
Set only when you choose to sign in with a JAWA account. It contains an opaque reference to your FOOD session, not your name, email or sign-in tokens. It is restricted from JavaScript, uses SameSite=Lax and Secure on HTTPS, and expires no later than 12 hours from the original JAWA sign-in. Signing out ends the FOOD session.
The preference cookie is restricted from JavaScript access, uses SameSite=Lax and is marked Secure on HTTPS. Your cookie choice does not create an account or authorise an order, payment or future tracking.
3. Other browser storage and requested features
Local storage is different from a cookie: the browser keeps information on your device rather than automatically sending it with every request. The appearance setting and the basket are separate from optional analytics or advertising and are not enabled by accepting optional cookies.
When you request a shop map, or open the optional checkout preview, the browser sends network requests to OpenFreeMap, disclosing your IP address and the map area. Postcode lookup uses Postcodes.io as explained in the Privacy Policy. These are functional service requests; this cookie choice does not authorise new third-party tracking.
food-theme
Remembers the light or dark appearance you select with the theme control. It is saved when you request that setting and has no automatic time expiry; it remains until you change it or clear the site's browser data. Without a saved setting, the website follows your browser's colour-scheme preference.
food-basket
Keeps the basket you build on a shop page: the shop, delivery or collection, and the items and choices you added, so it survives a reload. It holds no prices or personal details. Starting the optional checkout preview sends a copy to us to create a private draft; browsing and changing the basket alone do not send it. Ordering is not available yet. The browser copy is removed when you empty the basket or start one at another shop, and is discarded 24 hours after its last change.
You can remove cookies and local storage using your browser's site-data settings. Blocking essential cookies can prevent secure form submissions. Clearing the choice cookie removes your saved choice, so the banner will appear again. Clearing local storage can reset your chosen appearance and empty your basket.
The Privacy Policy explains the information we handle, sharing, retention and your rights. Cookie choices are separate from the website Terms and Conditions and from any arrangement you make directly with a food business.
